Why we chose St. Jude.
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.
- The treatments invented at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% when they opened their doors to more than 80% today.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
We started Justice Tumbling Company because we have an undeniable passion for working with children, not only in cheerleading, but also in helping guide them down a morally positive path. We want every athlete to know how important it is to take care of each other and not tear one another down like we see so often in the world today. That’s why we are doing our part to impact the world in the most positive way we know how, by helping children through St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

It’s almost always sunny in Jamaica, where Azalea and her family live. They spend a lot of time on the beach. Life is laid back. But in January 2016, a dark cloud settled over Azalea’s parents, Simone and Ricardo, when they learned she had a type of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma. “Everything became dark,” Ricardo said.
Azalea’s family obtained a referral to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and as soon as they arrived, everything changed. “Hearing that your 2-year-old has cancer is the most devastating news a parent could ever get,” said Simone. “We were familiar with St. Jude because of their commercials. We knew St. Jude was the best possible place for a child with cancer, and that’s what we wanted for Azalea.”
“All I saw was darkness when Azalea was diagnosed,” Ricardo said. “St. Jude brought me back to life. Now I look forward to going to the beach with her, to seeing her grow up.” Simone puts her thoughts about St. Jude simply. “St. Jude saved our lives,” she said. “They saved our family.”
For weeks in early 2016, 2-year-old Londyn wasn’t well. Doctors thought she had pneumonia. When tests revealed Londyn was suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia, her parents, Anthony and Kascie, were devastated. When they arrived at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with Londyn, they were overwhelmed and scared.
But within moments of arriving, they felt a sense of peace. “Everyone was so welcoming,” Kascie said. “The doctors, the nurses, the cleaning staff.”
Londyn’s treatment includes chemotherapy, but because her cancer did not go into remission, she also received a bone marrow transplant. Kascie has stayed at St. Jude with Londyn, and Anthony has traveled back and forth from home, so that he can continue working. “We’re thankful for everything St. Jude has provided for us,” Anthony said. “St. Jude helps to take the worry away.”
Throughout everything, Londyn has remained a sassy, happy little girl. She loves her baby dolls, dancing and playing hide and seek. “Londyn is my sunshine,” said Kascie. “We’re so grateful for everything St. Jude has done for us, for our family.”
When 9-year-old Sebastián grows up, he wants to be a professional soccer player — and he’s off to a good start. In the fall of 2016, Sebastián was given the Iron Man award by his soccer team in recognition of his relentless effort and passion on the field. “It’s always been Sebastián’s dream to play soccer,” said his mother, Belén.
But in 2014, Sebastián’s dream was in jeopardy. Earlier that year, his parents learned he suffered from a rare brain tumor called medulloblastoma. “We were devastated,” said Belén. “Sebastián had always been a sweet, caring child with an adventurous heart. It was difficult to imagine he was so sick.”
Doctors sent the family to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for Sebastian’s continuing treatment and care. At St. Jude, Sebastián’s treatment included chemotherapy, radiation therapy and oral chemotherapy.
Throughout treatment, Sebastián never lost sight of his dream. “All he asked me when he was in the hospital was that he wanted to play soccer on a team,” said Belén. “We promised him that we would sign him up when he finished treatment.”
Sebastián finished treatment in 2015 and now returns to St. Jude for regular checkup appointments. And just like they promised during treatment, his parents enrolled him on a soccer team soon after completing treatment.
“Every time we watch him play we remember everything that he went through and it’s incredible seeing how much energy he has,” said Belén. “We are thankful for our St. Jude family who helped us through every step of the process.”
At Justice Tumbling Company, we personally know people who wouldn’t be alive today if it wasn’t for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We are so thankful for this organization and we invite you to help them in their cause to end childhood cancer with us.
